PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

 

1. Review of the implementation of standards for protection of children in foster care

Goals

- Establishing functional model for tracking and evaluation of protection of children in foster families;

- Improving the protection of a child in foster care and providing the sufficient stimulating conditions for reaching the development in accordance with the potentials.


2. Planning of services and forms of protection of a child in foster care

Goals

- Defining individual needs of the child in foster care as well as those of foster families, defining the incentives for reaching the potentials of the child and trying to give form to all activities and interventions for solving possible problems.

- Responding to problems in timely fashion and creating conditions for optimal development of the child in foster care.


3. Evaluation of foster families

Goals

- The evaluation of abilities of foster families in order to provide foster carers with competences for foster care and finding those foster carers who are able to look after children without parental care in an adequate way, encourage their development and provide possibilities for reaching full child’s potential;

- Equalization of conditions and providing equal chances for all children in foster care no matter the family they are staying with, in order to fully satisfy their needs and ensure their development in accordance with individual needs and potentials of the child;

- Reaching the well-being of the child in foster care as well as his/her best interests through the children’s rights that have to be provided.


4. Campaign for foster care

Goals

- Recruitment of new foster families with adequate education level, working and parental experience and required motivation for foster care which are basis for developing and establishing competences for foster care;

- Recruitment of foster families in accordance with the needs of children and development of different forms of foster care.


5. Selection of family for the child

Goals

- Providing a family for the child that will fulfill its needs in the best possible way.

- Optimal development of the child in accordance with child’s potentials.


6. Support for children and foster families

Goals

- Strengthening the competences of foster carers for fulfilling the needs of children

- Overcoming the difficulties in development of children and fulfilling their developmental needs;


7. Development and improvement of foster care

Goals

- Providing equal chances for all children to live in a family no matter the differences regarding the age, sex, nationality, type of handicap, etc.

- Providing competent foster families that will take care of children with developmental difficulties;

- Initiating suggestions for changes, additions and normative harmonization of current regulations for implementation of new forms of foster care, for urgent foster care and foster care for children with developmental difficulties.


8. Establishing of the database on foster care

Goals

- Availability of data about children and foster carers, as well as timely and adequate accommodation of children into suitable foster family;

- Tracking of the degree of realization of standards for protection of children in foster families;

- Tracking of providing services and advancing of a child in foster family.


9. Development of professional capacities

Goals

- Strengthening of professional capacities of employees in the Center which is a prerequisite for quality work and improvement of foster care;

- Introduction of system of quality into protection of children in foster care.


10. Publishing

Goals

- Contribution to the development of quality systems and development of different forms of support both for professionals and foster families;

- Popularization of foster care and the work of Center for Foster Care;

- increasing the value and importance of the institution.
